CAUBE.AU Privacy Policy

1. What information we collect

(a) From any connection to our server

When you connect to our server to download a file, we log:

(i) The host name or IP address connecting;
(ii) The date and time;
(iii) The file requested;
(iv) The result of that request;
(v) The referring site; and
(vi) The version of the web browser you used, as reported to us by the web browser.

(b) When you sign up as a user

When you sign up as a CAUBE.AU member, we collect in addition to the information in 1(a), the following information which you enter into the form:

(i) Your name;
(ii) Your email address;
(iii) Your newsletter subscription preferences;
(iv) Your citizenship status;
(v) Your federal electorate; and
(vi) Your physical address.

We also record the following information:

(vii) Your membership ID, assigned by our systems;
(viii) Your password, generated by our systems and included after the dot in the confirmation URL emailed to you;
(ix) Whether you have confirmed your membership by accessing the URL emailed to you; and
(x) The date and time of your sign up.

(c) When you sign up for press releases

When you sign up for press releases, we collect in addition to the information in 1(a), the following information which you enter into the form:

(i) Your name;
(ii) Your email address;
(iii) Your publication; and
(iv) Your publisher.

We also collect the following information:

(v) Your press signup ID, assigned by our systems;
(vi) A confirmation check code, generated by our systems and included in the confirmation URL emailed to you; and
(vii) Whether you have confirmed your subscription by accessing the URL emailed to you.

(d) When you submit an interview request

When you submit an interview request, that request is sent via electronic mail to the relevant people. We do not record any information other than that in 1(a) in any database. Individual recipients may keep archived copies of their email. The email includes only the information entered into the forms.

(e) When you submit feedback

When you submit feedback, the feedback is sent via electronic mail to the CAUBE.AU board and observers of the board. We do not record any information other than that in 1(a) in any database. Individual recipients may keep archived copies of their email. The email includes only the information entered into the forms.

2. What we do with the information

CAUBE.AU does not share information except as explicitly stated below.

(a) Collected as a result of a connection to our server

We use this information to determine patterns of interest in our material, and to determine what material is of most interest to the people accessing our web site. This influences our decisions on what new material to include.

(b) Collected when you join CAUBE.AU

This is used as detailed on the page soliciting the information. This information may be shared with your Federal Senators and Representative if thought necessary to achieve the goals of CAUBE.AU. This has not been necessary to date, and at this time we believe we can achieve those goals without sharing this information.

(c) Collected when you sign up for press releases

This is used for the transmission of press releases to the journalists signing up, and for us to determine which publications should be contacted by other means.

(d) Collected when you request an interview

This is used to contact the journalist to give or arrange for the interview. If an item of news arises which we believe may have special relevance to a specific journalist we have dealt with before, and is not appropriate for a press release, we may contact the journalist at a later date. Such contacts are extremely rare, and are one-on-one contacts.

(e) Collected when you submit feedback

This is used to receive your feedback, and if appropriate, to respond to it.

3. How to get access to your information we have recorded

We are required to give access to or make corrections to personal information that CAUBE.AU has recorded on you. This only applies to information that can be readily identified with an individual. To get access to the information:

(a) Collected as a result of connecting to our server.

This information will not normally be identifiable with an individual, and thus is not normally personal information within the meaning of the law, however provided you can be specific about the system you connected from, and you can establish to our satisfaction that the connection does correspond to you, and that there is a reasonable means that a person could use to cross-reference this to you, we can provide your with a copy of the records.

This information is not subject to correction, as it is factual information that was necessarily correct at the time of collection.

Additionally, the individual facilitating access to information collected under section 1(a)  may charge a fee for their time taken to identify, extract and provide this information, even if they determine that there is no information that is readily identifiable with you. In the event that a fee will be charged, you will be informed of this prior to any charged work being undertaken.

(b) Collected when you join CAUBE.AU
